Sharks and Fishes

One child is a Shark, who waits in the middle of the pool for fishes (all other children), which lines up at one end of the pool. When Shark yells: “1, 2 ,3 , go!”, the fishes attempts to swim accross the pool without being tagged by the Shark.

When the Fish is tagged, he/she becomes Shark and helps in catching other fishes. Continue until the last Fish is tagged.

Treasure hunt

Treasure hunt is easy to prepare, and children always love the surprise as a reward.

The set-up depends of the children age.

For youngest, you can place cards with pictures as a clue, which will lead them to next clue.

For older children, you can write riddles as a clue, or you can cut out letters from the magazine, which the children have to put together to spell the right word.

The last clue should lead to the treasure, which could be bag of candies, party goody bags, bouncy balls… anything, just make sure that all children get some(thing).

If there are lots of children, you may divide them in groups and hand them a list of common household goods, that they have to find. The first group to collect the things win and they receive the treasure. And have something ready for the runner-ups!

Beach Ball Race

The players push the ball with their nose, while swimming, from one end of the pool to another.

The first player to reach the end, wins.

If pool happens to be overly crowdy, you can divide the players into teams, and play the game as a relay. First member swims across the pool, with the ball, and when he reaches the end of the pool, next member jumps in the pool to push the ball back to the beginning.

Baloon Train Race

What you need:

1 blown up balloon per player

A large area

How to play:

Divide the children in two or more groups (with at least 3-4 members). Define the starting and finishing lines. Each team must place a balloon between each player and hold it there while the team races to the finish line. So it’s child, balloon, child, balloon, etc. to form a train. The first team to the finish line wins.

Fill a Cup Relay

Playing with water is always fun for the children (and adults, too:))

You need: one plastic cup per team, one plastic spoon per team and one bucket of water

How to play:

Divide the children in two or more groups. Place the bucket at the starting point and the plastic cups at the finish line. Each person fills their spoon with water in the bucket, then runs and puts it in the cup. The first team to fill its cup wins.

You may put some obstacles on the runway to make it harder (and more interesting).
